    METH and Anhydrous Amonnia

Most meth operating labs in the United States use anhydrous ammonia in the manufacturing process, this is fact. Some say meth is decling but look at the facts, Indiana, Kentucky are smashing any records in history, just to name 2. These cause enormous costs that you and I pay for. The Rand corporation issued a document stating between 8 and 16 Billion dollars are being spent annually to take care of all aspects of meth. Today the next leading problem is children being exposed to these deadly chemicals, testing positive for meth in their systems. It is imperitive to put resources in place to prevent the very basic prevention measures which we seem to miss. Also in fact Iowa reduced meth labs by 90% according to LT. Governor Patty Judge simply by using anhdrous ammonia locks on all the portable tanks in the state. This cost 1.2 million dollars, a far cry from 16 billion. In the new farm bill 15 million is waiting on appropiations to fund the continuation of locks for ammonia. Lets get together to lobby the Senate to approve this funding. Together we can make the difference.

This has been happening for years.

I say lets make pseudoephedrine available by prescription only..........that would solve this issue real quick. Sure there will be a lot of people that would not agree with this but wouldn't it be worth it. Without it....they can not make meth.

Sorry to say, but yes they can!

Making pseudoephedrine a prescription drug won't solve the problem, I'm afraid. Suppliers of pseudoephedrine from Mexico and China would just bump up the amount they're shipping in to the U.S.

Making pseudoephedrine a prescription drug won't stop meth manufacturing, I'm afraid. Cases of it are already being shipped in to the U.S. from places like Mexico and China. If pseudoephedrine becomes a prescription drug, they'd be thrilled. Less supply in the U.S. would allow them to sell more of theirs at a higher price on the black market.

You are right, unfortunately. There is no real solution for this problem and there's not much the government can do. And I am afraid it won't be possible to ban foreign shipments of pseudoephedrine since there's too much money involved for both parties.
